Q: What is the new 34-credit cap for high school students? Melissa A.
Starting in September 2013, the Ministry of Education is introducing a cap that will allow high school students to take up to 34 credits. This allows for four extra credits (a semester) beyond the 30 required for graduation. Students who want to take more than 34 credits may do so, but the school board will be funded at a lower rate for those credits. For more information, check out the Ministry’s FAQ sheet on this policy change.
