Frequently asked questions

Q: Is there funding available to support parent involvement?

The Ministry of Education provides funding to both school councils and regional parent/community groups for projects that support parent engagement in school.  You have to apply for this funding, and the application deadline is usually in late spring.

From the Ministry’s website

Parents Reaching Out (PRO) grants encourage parent engagement at the local, regional and provincial levels. They are designed to support parents in identifying barriers to parent engagement in their own community and to find local solutions to involve more parents in support of student achievement and well-being.

School councils can apply for up to $1000, and regional/provincial groups can apply for up to $30,000 in funding.  To learn more about these grants, you can visit the PRO Grant page on the Ministry website.
